Edith "Irene" Edwards, 84, of South Boardman passed away Dec. 11,2002 at Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn. She was born Aug. 2,1918 in Mode, III., the daughter of Victor and Zula (Workman) Gruenewald.
Irene married Harry C. Edwards on May 29, 1941 in Oxford. Irene and Harry moved to South Boardman in 1972 from Oakwood. She loved her dear friends at both Oakwood Community Church and East Boardman United Methodist Church in South Boardman. She was a member of both churches.
Irene is survived by her children Jack L. Edwards of Knoxville, Julie Anne (Randy) Ingersoll of Seymour, Tenn., and Eila Jean Edwards of South Boardman; grandchildren Eric W. Artress of South Boardman and Matthew J. Ingersoll of Seymour, Tenn.; sisters Wanda J. (Ray) Soldan of South Boardman and Dorothy L. Swett of Oxford.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband Harry, sisters Annie and Marjory, and brothers Barney, Ray and Jack.
Visitation was at Oakwood Community Church on Dec. 14. Additional visitation was at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska Dec. 15. Funeral services were conducted Dec. 16 at the funeral home. Interment was at Lodi Cemetery.
