Dr. Earl I. Hansen, 73, of Mancelona, died Wednesday, Jul 28, 1993, at his residence.
Dr. Hansen practiced dentistry for 25 years in Romeo prior to his retirement in 1981 when he moved to Mancelona. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was a 1954 graduate of the University of Detroit College of Dentistry. He was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, a life member of the American Dental Association and the Michigan Dental Association, and Knights of Columbus Council 7419, 3rd and 4th degree member.
Born in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska on May 29, 1920, Dr. Hansen was the son of Theodore and Mary Ann Spear Hansen. On Feb 15, 1947, in St. Clair Shores, he was united in marriage with Anna Schudlick who survives.
Also surviving are 5 sons, Earl I. Hansen, Jr. of Mancelona, Michael Hansen of San Francisco, CA, Charles Hansen of Armada, Mark Hansen of Romeo, and James Hansen of Washington, MI; 3 daughters, Patricia Hansen of Romeo, Margaret Bright of Washington, MI, and Linda Hansen of Saginaw; 2 sisters, Blanche Swanson of Nebraska and Elsie Campbell of Oregon; and 11 grandchildren.
One son, Robert Paul Hansen, preceded him in death in 1948. Seven brothers, Frank, George, Ira, Chris, Clarence, Harry, and Anton; and 3 sisters, Ethel Governor, Sadie Hansen, and Florence Hagman, also preceded him in death.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Sat, Jul 31, 1993, at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Kalkaska. Fr. Patrick J. Barrett will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery, Kalkaska Co.
A Knights of Columbus service will be held at 7:30 pm. Thursday at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. The Rosary will be recited at 7pm Friday at the funeral home. Military rites will be under the auspices of Land O'Lakes Post 8684, V.F.W.
