Earl Bavin, 66, of East Main Street, Mendon, died near midnight, Sat of a severe asthma attack at the Battle Creek Sanitarium where he had been seriously ill ten days. He was born in Hillsdale County Aug 9, 1892, a son of John and Emma (Hoover) Bavin. He had lived in Hillsdale County until he was 18 and then moved to Kalkaska County. On April 12, 1913, he was married to Jennie Wonsey in Kalkaska County, where they lived on a farm until 1940. They moved then to Manton and in 1945 to Battle Creek area, coming to Mendon in 1951. Mrs. Bavin died Feb 24, 1952. He was a former member of the Gleaners and Grange in Garfield township.
Since coming to Mendon he had operated a shoe repair business in his home. Surviving are three sons, Clinton of Roseville, Ora of Route 2, Union City and Earl Jr. of Athens, one daughter, Mrs. Emma Kimbel of Baldwin Park, CA; two brothers, Leo of Litchfield and Lawrence of Ann Arbor; and 13 grandchildren.
