Dovie May Aldridge, 74, of Traverse City, passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at home with her family at her side.
She was born Oct. 7, 1934, in Pampa, Texas, to the late Elam and Dovie (Cash) Hutchins. Most of her life she lived and worked in Port Aransas, Texas, where she managed Sea Isle Condominiums, retiring Jan. 1, 2000.
Dovie married Adolphus “Duffy” Aldridge on Sept. 5, 1961, at Faith Lutheran Church in Aransas Pass, Texas. They moved to Traverse City in July 2000.
Dovie’s most important purpose in life was being wife to Dolph and mother to her sons, Donny Wooten of Traverse City and Charlie Bright of Corpus Christie, Texas, and daughter, Dorothy Achord (who preceded her in death). Also surviving are son-in-law, Cecil Achord of Chesapeake, Va; grandchildren, Jennifer (Roy) Emanuel of Ridgecrest, Calif., Billy (Shari) Wooten of South Mills, NC, Summer Bright and Stefanie Bright of Pasadena, Texas, James Wooten of Silsbee, Texas; three great-grandchildren; brother, Jean (Dee) Hutchins of Federal Way, Wash; sister-in-law, Connie Hutchins of Rock Port Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were brothers, Elam, Roy and Tom.
Graveside services will be held at 1pm Friday, Oct 31, at the Kingsley Evergreen Cemetery.
