Dorothy P. Root, 89, of Kalkaska, died Sun, Apr 9, 2000, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mrs. Root had been a resident of Kalkaska since 1928. She was a member of the Peoples Church and the VFW Auxiliary, and a former member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing bingo and crocheting.
Mrs. Root was born in Grand Ledge, IL, on Mar 25, 1911, to Charles and Nellie Harvey Ball. On Oct 19, 1930, in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, she married C. Vernon Root, who preceded her in death on Oct 3, 1976.
Surviving are son Donald Root of Kalkaska, daughters Marilyn Watkins of Kalkaska, and Bonnie Watkins of West Pittsburg, PA; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Daughters Shirley Blanchard and Lois Rhode preceded her in death.
Funeral services were Apr 11 at The Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska; Rev Paul Karges officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
