Dorothy Marie “Dottie” Jolly, aged 68 of Ludington passed away on Sun, Aug 26, 2012 at her home. Dorothy was born on May 3, 1944 in Manistee to Warren and Delores (Krause) Duncil, and graduated from Mason County Eastern High School with the class of 1962. On Oct 6, 1962 she married Gerald W. Jolly, and he preceded her in death on Oct 29, 2010 after celebrating 48 years together. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Wanda Petersen.
Dottie furthered her education at West Shore Community College where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Accounting in 1978. She worked as the Bookkeeper for Ludington Mass Transit for 26 years, and most recently for her son Curt at Master Muffler & Brakes in Ludington.
Dottie enjoyed working in her yard, cooking and canning Mason County fruits and vegetables for her family and friends, and served as an Election Polling Place volunteer for many years. She also enjoyed traveling to the casino with friends every so often.
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jerry (Carey) Jolly of Custer, Christine Jolly, and Curt (Karen) Jolly all of Ludington; her nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Grycki, Jessica (Tim) Mitchell, Cory Jolly, Bryan Jolly, Riley Jolly, Racheal Jolly, Travis Peterson, Melissa Jolly, and Nathaniel Jolly; her eight great grandchildren, Isabella, Raileigh, and Easton Grycki, Jadon, Timmy, and Logan Mitchell, Tayten Jolly, and Olivia Jolly; her brothers and sisters, Eugene Duncil of Scottville, Naomi (Dave) Jacobs of Walkerville, Warren (Betty) Duncil of Portage, IN, Barb (Jim) Beckstrom of Ludington, and Debra (Steve) Althaus of New Era, her huncle Randal Duncil of Gulliver, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held for Dorothy at 3pm on Sat, Sept 8 at the Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville. Burial will follow at Fountain Cemetery. Friends may meet with Dorothy’s family for a time of visitation on Sat from 1pm until time of services at the funeral home.
