Dorothy L. Morris, 89, of state Route 38A, Town of Niles, died unexpectedly Sun, May 23, 2010, at Auburn Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Morris was born Aug 4, 1920 in Victory, the daughter of Raymond and Mary Hare Longyear. A graduate of Cato High School Class of 1938, she had been a resident of Niles for most of her life. Dorothy had been employed with various businesses which included Auburn City Hospital, where she met her late husband, Harold F. Morris, Crescent Corset Mfg in Moravia, General Products in Union Springs, New Process Gear in Syracuse, Moravia Central School Cafeteria and she had been a Stanley Product Dealer and had her own beauty shop for many years.
She was a long-time member of Mid-Lakes United Methodist Church in New Hope and the WSCS of the church, a 50-plus year member and Past Noble Grand of Dorcas Rebekah Lodge No. 399 in Kelloggsville, Past District Grand of the New York Dorcas Assembly and a New Hope Senior Citizen Club Member.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold F. Morris, Jun 6, 2005; and a brother, Leslie Longyear.
Surviving her are a daughter, Barbara and her husband, William McGrath, of Seneca Falls; sons, Allen and wife, Bobbi Morris, of Delray Beach, FL, and Raymond “Toad” and his wife, Roma Morris, of Niles; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Winfred Longyear, of the Boyle Center, Auburn; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Fri, May 28, in Mid-Lakes U.M.C., Route 41A, New Hope. Burial will be in Kelloggsville Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 pm Thu, May 27, at the Wade Funeral Home, 22 Church St, Moravia. Contributions can be made to the Mid-Lakes U.M.C. or Four Town First Aid Squad.
