Dorothy Helen Hornbogen of Cadillac passed away Saturday morning, April 27, 2019 at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital. She was 91. Dorothy was born on December 17, 1927 in Crystal Falls, Michigan to David & Elizabeth (Anderson) Laine. In 1950 she married Joseph S. Hornbogen and he preceded her in death on September 18, 2005.
Dorothy graduated from Forest Park High School in Crystal Falls, Michigan and received her nursing degree from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Marquette, Michigan. In 1956 she moved to the Cadillac area and she was employed at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac for 35 years retiring in 1988.
Dorothy attended St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac and was a member of the Cadillac Elks Lodge Daisy Chain for 30 years. She enjoyed spending winters in Florida, flowers, going to the casino, golfing and knitting.
Survivors include her children: David Hornbogen of Cadillac, Joann (Jim) Ankoviak of Orlando, Florida and Paul Hornbogen of Cadillac; and 5 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 3, 2019 at Peterson Funeral and Cremation Services in Cadillac with Reverend Fr. Michael Janowski officiating. Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Cadillac. Friends may meet the family Friday from 10:00 AM until services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
