Dorothy C Gibbons, 65, a 28 year City of Poughkeepsie resident, died Mon at Vassar Brothers Hospital, city after a short illness.
She worked at the Dutchess County Commission of Finance until her retirement in 1983.
Previously of Lapeer, MI, she was a member of the Civil Service Employees Association and of St Mary’s Church, City of Poughkeepsie.
She served in the US Coast Guard in FL from 1944 to 1946.
She was born Dec 5, 1922, in Detroit to James C and Laura Hazen Browne.
She graduated from business school in Ashtabula, OH.
On Jun 19, 1948, in Lapeer, she married Lyle M Gibbons, who died in Apr 1982.
She is survived by two sons, James Gibbons of Poughkeepsie and Michael Gibbons of Red Hook; two daughters, Margaret Henderson of Valdosta, GA and Jayne Trojan of Poughkeepsie, three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 pm Wed at the Robert H Auchmoody Funeral Home, 16 Grand Ave, Poughkeepsie.
Services are at 10:15 am Thu at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of the Christian Burial at 11 am at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 775 Main St, Town of Poughkeepsie.
Burial will be in St Peter’s Cemetery, Town of Poughkeepsie.
