Doris Marie Comrie, 74, of Rapid City died Thu, Dec 26, 1996, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
She was born Oct 10, 1922, in Alden, the daughter of George and Amy (Steiner) Smith. She grew up in Alden and graduated from Alden High School in 1940.
On Apr 14, 1942, in Detroit, she married Leo T. Comrie. They had made their home in Grand Rapids, Wayland, and from 1972 to 1984 in Cincinnati. She moved back to Alden in 1984. She enjoyed art, literature, ceramics, and playing music on the guitar and piano.
She is survived by her husband, Leo T. Comrie Sr of Rapid City; children Leo (Linda) Comrie Jr of Galesburg, Loretta Conover of Kentwood, Amy (David) Cox of Middletown, OH, and Janet (Chris) Hisey of Mt. Vernon, OH; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sister Gladys Seaman and brother Kenny Smith.
A memorial service was held Dec 30 at the Alden United Methodist Church. Rev. John Boley officiated.
Memorials may be given to the Crippled Children's Fund or the Crohns and Colitis Foundation. Arrangements by the Paullin-Penzien Funeral Home in Mancelona.
