Donald Alworden of Cadillac passed away early Saturday morning, April 27, 2019 at his home with his family by his side. He was 69. Don was born on March 15, 1950 in Cadillac to William J. & Dorothy D. (Rush) Alworden and they preceded him in death.
Don had lived all his life in the Cadillac area and was employed at AAR Manufacturing for 44 and half years retiring in 2013. He was a member of the Haring Township Fire Department and served the community for 30 years. Don enjoyed building things as well as tearing things apart. He loved his tractors, and doing things with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, hunting and gardening.
On July 30, 1983 in Cadillac he married the former Patricia H. Welch and she survives him along with their two sons: Duane (Monica) Alworden and Michael (Bessie) Alworden all of Cadillac; 4 grandchildren: Kayla Ball, Trevor (Erika) Alworden, Megan Alworden and Audrianna Hankins; 2 great grandchildren: Bentley Alworden and Riley Prince; 2 brothers: Cliff (Virginia) Alworden of Cadillac and Vernon (Mignon) Alworden of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and 2 sisters: Velda Baldwin of Jennings and Donna (Steve) Sherwood of Merritt. In addition to his parents Don was preceded in death by 5 siblings: Richard Denean, Cecil Rush, Loretta Todd, Ronnie Alworden and Phil Alworden.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Peterson Funeral & Cremation Services in Cadillac with Pastor Judy Coffey officiating. Burial will be at Haring Township Cemetery in Wexford County. Friends may meet the family from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Haring Township Fire Department, Munson Hospice or American Lung Association.
