On Jan 19, 2012, we lost our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Donald L. Frey.
Born Apr 2, 1932 in Smithsburg, MD, he was the son of the late Harry L. Frey, Sr and Naomi C. Smith Frey.
Donald was retired from Eastalco Aluminum in Frederick, MD.
He was a member of Life House Behtel Church in Hagerstown, MD and was very active in Royal Rangers, an Assemblies of God boys organization. He became a Commander in 1976 and moved on to the executive staff where he has continued to serve. He was also active in missions, both in the U.S. and abroad, building churches and doing other volunteer work.
Don is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sara I (Revell) Frey; one daughter Rebecca S. Frey; and two sons, Donald L Frey II and wife Bonnie of Middletown, Stephen P Frey and wife Maude Eva of Thurmont; three grandsons, Christopher Frey, Corey Frey, Nicholas Frey and his wife, Mya. He is survived by one sisters, Margaret A. Ridenour of Smithsburg; four brothers, Harry L Frey Jr and Mark Frey both of Ringgold, C. Nevin Frey of Hagerstown, and Gerald E Frey of Smithsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Catherine Durham, Lucille Doyle, and M. Elizabeth Ginn; and three brothers, James S Frey, Robert E (Gene) Frey, and Thurman L Frey, Sr.
A Memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Sat, Feb 4, 2012, 11 o’clock, at Potomac Park Retreat Center, Tabernacle Way, Falling Waters, WV. Rev. Bobby Bashum, Potomac Men’s Ministries Director, will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers a Donation may be made to Potomac District Royal Rangers for The Don Frey Scholarship Fund.
