Donald Joseph Sewell, 79, passed away June 30, 2013 at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born December 17, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan. Don was the son of Calvin Earl and Marguerite E. Dorrance.
Having graduated with a master’s degree from Michigan State University, Don enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a packaging engineer. He worked on the US Space program during his tenure with Rockwell International in Tulsa, OK, and retired from Ford Motor Co.
Don is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Belle (Horrall) Sewell of Indianapolis and his sister, Dorothy Paulson of Sylmar, California. Also surviving are a sister in law, Nona Sewell of Sumpter, SC; five nieces and several cousins.
One brother, Gordon Sewell is deceased.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Major Mark Turner of the Salvation Army officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwarsport IOOF Cemtery. Friends may visit from noon until the service time at the funeral home.
Don has many relatives from his wife’s side of the family in the Vincennes area with whom he was close. Don will be loved and missed by his many family members and friends for his big heart and generous nature. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.
