Donald Eugene Springstead of the son of Arthur Springstead and Eunice Valleau.
Don was a veteran serving in the United States Army during World War II. He was a sergeant at the age of 19 and selected to guard General MacArthur in Japan. Don retired from the Michigan State Police in L'Anse. He was a member of the L'anse VFW Post 3897.
Don is survived by one son, two daughters, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his sister.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; daughter, Linda Diane; and brother, Robert and Jack.
