Mr. DeVitte J Johnson, aged 87, of rural Greenville, passed away Sun afternoon, Mar 23, 2003 at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice. The son of Fred and Nina May (Todd) Johnson, he was born on Dec 12, 1915 in Hastings. On Oct 12, 1947 in Traverse City, he married the former Loretta D. Taylor. De was retired from the Harlo Corporation and enjoyed golfing and square dancing.
He was preceded in death by his parents: two sisters, Leola Klise and Eunice Willey; three brothers, Ray Johnson, Al Todd, and Nate Johnson; and a grandson, Timothy J. Fancett.
Surviving are his wife, Loretta Johnson; a daughter, Nina Wallace and Randy Chipman of Fenwick; a son and daughter in law, Al and Diane Johnson of Freeport; two sisters, Edna Smith of Sparta, and Lois Bednarz of Alma; a brother, Fred Johnson of Livonia; four grandchildren, Courtney and Matthew Duffey, Stacy Settlemyre, Tiffany Fancett and David Court, and Valerie Fancett and Tyler Simmons; nine great grandchildren, Brianna, Julia and Sara Duffy, Adam, Kyle and Keristin Settlemyre, Madison and Taylor Court, and Harper Simmons; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Thu, Mar 27, 2003 at the Brown-Teman & Chirstiansen Funeral Home, Greenville, with Mr. Kemo Smith officiating.
