Derek David Dalton, 28, of Rapid City, passed away unexpectedly on Nov 12, 2011. He was born on Nov 13, 1982 in Traverse City to David B. Dalton and Diane Sue Wildfong.
Derek was a 2001 graduate of Kalkaska High School. He was a very hard worker from a young age. Derek was very talented and excelled at masonry work. He was very proud that he did the stonework on his dad's home.
Derek loved hunting and fishing with his Grandfather Wildfong. One of his favorite things to do was to go fishing an then have a big fish fry for family and friends.
Derek could talk to anyone and make them feel comfortable. He loved children and was a doting uncle to his nieces, Keira and Elle. Derek will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his dear parents, Diane S. Wildfong of Kalkaska and David (Kelly) Dalton of Rapid City; his loving sisters and brothers, Leigh Ann (Evan) Roehm of Ypsilanti, Andre Robert Dalton of Cadillac, Nickole Jimenez of Kalkaska, Kirsten Spink of Rapid City, and Tyler Spink of Rapid City; his cherished nieces, Keira and Elle Roehm of Ypsilanti; his grandparents, Robert "Ted" and Barbara Dalton of Rapid City and Robert "Bumps" and Dorothy "The Warden" Wildfong of Mancelona; and a multitude of loving cousins who he spent many hours with while growing up.
Visitation for Derek was Thu, Nov 17, 2011 from 1 to 8 pm at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Fri at 11 am at the Kalkaska Church of Christ with Caleb J. Rowe of Mount Zion Church in Zenia, OH officiating, with burial in Fairview Cemetery in Mancelona.
