Dennis Warren Moore, 59, of Rudyard, passed away Aug 5, 2009 - while he was fishing in the U.P. with his buddy.
He was born Sep 9, 1949, in Petoskey, the son of Harry and Violet (DeForrest) Moore.
Dennis graduated from Traverse City High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as Sergeant in the US Air Force, where he was in the Gun Fighter Squadron from 1969 to 1972.
Dennis had a great love for his country. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, woodworking, and wood carving.
Dennis adored his family and grandchildren; they were his world.
Dennis was a member of the Williamsburg VFW Post, Kalkaska Archery Club and was a 4H archery instructor.
He was also instrumental in helping to start the 4H Club in Rudyard.
Dennis is survived by his children, Troy A (Kina) Moore, of HOughton Lake, and Natalie A (Jeff) Terrell of Traverse City; his soul mate, Lorna "Lorrie" Hauswirth of Rudyard; his mother, Violet Moore of East Jordon; his grandchildren, Zander, Olivia, Corinne, Nicklas, Jonathan, Taylor, and Hunter, and his siblings, Ginny (Bud) Carey of East Jordan, Ken (Kathy) Moore of Williamsburg, and Cliff Moore of Traverse City.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Harry.
Visitation was held Sun, Aug 9 from 4 to 7 pm at the Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home in Kalkaska.
The funeral service was Mon at 11 am. It was held at the Kalkaska United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Wolfe officiating.
