Debra Dawn Thomasy, resident of Northwest Ohio Developmental Center, went home to Heaven on Wed, Feb 15, 2012 and was reunited with her parents Charles and Bernadine Thomasy. Debra was born Aug 11, 1954, in Toledo, and brought special joy and a broad smile to all who knew and loved her. “You’re my friend” was Debra’s greeting to all. Debra attended the former Jay Shuer School in Oregon until she was 21. She was an enthusiastic employee at the Berdan and Telegraph Road locations of Lott Workshop for more than 30 years. Debra participated in the Special Olympics and enjoyed bowling, and swimming. A longtime member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church with her parents, Debra especially loved singing Christmas Carols and greeting the priest after mass. Debra moved to NODC in 2000, enjoying the group living activities and having fun with the devoted staff. Debra will be deeply missed by brothers, Lawrence (Nene), Port Orange, FL and Kenneth (Bernadette), Sacramento, CA; six nieces and nephews; uncle, James Lawrence, Frostproof, FL, and aunt, Babette Thomasy, Staten Island, NY. The Thomasy family is forever grateful to Lance and Lisa Gilson and all NODC staff for their loving care of Debra. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, on Sun from 3 to 6pm. Funeral services will be held Mon beginning at 9:30am in the mortuary followed by the funeral mass in St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church at 10 am. Interment Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
