David A. “Doc” Kendall, of Mesick, died Friday afternoon, Mar 23, 2018 at his home. He was 66. Dave was born on Jul 17, 1951 in Cadillac to Frank and Mary (Silvers) Kendall and they preceded him in death.
After graduating from Brethren High School, Dave entered the U.S. Marine Corps and served for two years during Vietnam. He returned from the war and worked in the oil fields for Biggard Drilling Company for many years. Later he was employed at S.R.W. Residential Paving Company in Traverse City.
“Doc” was a life member of the AMVETS Post of Mesick and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, horseback riding, watching movies, shooting pool and most of all spending time with his family.
In Nov of 1973 he married the former Mary Jo Gaylord and she survives him along with four children: Sara Kendall (Jason Szegda) of Mesick, Robin Clinton of Newaygo, Jason (Becky) Clinton of Traverse City, and Gabe (Betsy) Clinton of Davidson; eight grandchildren: Gabby, Cassie, Gavin, Emma, Sophia S, Andrew S, Emma S, and Trea S; two brothers: Brian Kendall of Cadillac and Frank Kendall of Mesick; two sisters: Sonya Spoor of Mesick and Pam Kendall of Traverse City; and many nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial luncheon will be held Sat, Mar 31, 2018 at the AMVETS Post in Mesick starting at 3pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Munson Hospice.
