Darrell G. Lewis, age 87, formerly of Three Rivers, passed away on Jan 1, 2004, in Kalamazoo. He was born in Three Rivers on Sep 22, 1916, the son of Reed and Mable Lewis.
Mr. Lewis had been a resident of Three Rivers for almost 60 years before moving to Fife Lake in 1986. He served his country during WWII in the US Army Air Corp. He enjoyed such endeavors as farming and insurance sales, but truly enjoyed house painting.
Mr. Lewis loved to fish and hunt and was an avid reader. He most enjoyed serving in the Cub Scouts which he did for over 50 years as a leader trainer and a scout leader until he was 80 years old.
Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Florence, in 1972, and sister, June Lewis.
He is survived by his loving family; son, David Lewis of Grand Haven; daughter Joyce (Gordon) Pegau, of Brighton; grandchildren, Michelle (Scott) Schneider and David Lewis; great grandchildren, Brandon and Sammy Lewis, and sister, Jean Lewis of Idaho.
A funeral service was held Mon, Jan 5, at the Hohner Funeral Home. The Rev Glen Grant officiated.
Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
