Dale C. Petersen age 81, of Greenville, passed away with the presence of his family at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids on Sunday, Aug 10, 2014.

He was born Jan 3, 1933 at Fife Lake, the son of Christian & Vernice (Snyder) Peterson.

Dale had worked and retired from Frigidaire after 32 years. Dale also served in the US Army for 6 ½ years and had been stationed in occupied Germany during the Korean Conflict; he was a Life Member of the Sheridan VFW Post.

Dale’s hobbies included camping, biking, taking walks, tinkering with electronics, and he always enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Jean who he married on July 14, 1962, having just celebrated their 52 years of marriage; children, Doreen and (Brad) Reynolds of Gowen, Colleen Peterson of Cedar Springs, Neal Peterson of Sheridan and Paul and (Sarah) Peterson of Coopersville; grandchildren, James and (Jessica) Kenney of Coral, Christian Peterson currently stationed at Moody AFB, Katie Hoople of San Antonio, Texas, Kristina Hoople of Orleans, Jessica and (Dave) Duca of Chicago, Kristen Wesche of Cedar Springs and Emily Peterson of Coopersville; great grandchildren, Ally, Kya, Kyden, Aiden, Izabell and one on the way; sisters-in-law Shirley Wonch of Carson City, Beverly Bristol of Saranac and Marilyn Miller of Ithaca; one aunt Dorothy Snyder of Traverse City and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother in law, Thomas and Blanch (Talley) Dickerson, brothers in law Terry and Larry Dickerson, Gerald Wonch, Orval Bristol and Kenneth Goodemoot, sister in law, Joan (Dickerson) Petrie, niece Brenda Kodat and nephew Harold Kodat.

A celebration of his life and Memorial Service with Full Military Hornors will be held at the Sheridan VFW Post on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 1PM, with a luncheon to follow. Burial will take place later at Evergreen Cemetery in Sheridan.
