Daisy G. Burnett, 100, of Kalkaska, passed away on Dec, 19, 2007, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center - LTC. She was born on Jul 18, 1907, in Bruceville, IN, the daughter of the late Noah and Edna (Starret) Cook.
Daisy married Joseph Burnett in Ohio on Oct 31, 1928. Together they had one daughter, Orthella. In 1926, the moved to Flint. Daisy owned and operated a grocery store in Grand Blanc and a bowling alley with a restaurant in Otter Lake. She was active in the Methodist Church in Flint and Mt Morris and worked for the Flint Red Cross Blood Bank for 25 years. For seven years, she was the Girl Scout Leader for Troop #173 in Mt Morris, and helped care for probate court children. Daisy moved to Coldsprings Township in 1969, where she was a charter member of the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Auxiliary and CETA for many years.
Daisy is survived by her niece, Edna Mae (Joseph) Tortoriello of Gladwin; nephew, Louis Jamnick of Fling; grandnephews, Ed Jamnick of Flint and Shawn (Aaryan) Jamnick of Kensha, WI.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph in 1986; her beloved daughter, Orthella Rowe, in 1972, and her sister, Dorothy Helen Jamnick, in 1996.
A graveside service for the family will be held at Millington Township Cemetery in Millington, MI.
