Corthale R "Corky" Goddard, 51, of Kalkaska, died at home early Tuesday morning, Jul 25, 2000, of cancer.
He was born May 3, 1949, in Wolverine, the son of Richard E and Martha A (McCall) Goddard. He was a graduate of Gaylord High School.
Corky moved from Rapid City to Kalkaska approximately 16 years ago and had been employed by Key Energy Inc as a rig operator in the oil fields for over 20 years. He enjoyed woodworking and riding his motorcycle. He was a member of St Luke Catholic Church in Bellaire.
He was honorably discharged as a sergeant from the US Army after having served six years during the Vietnam era.
On Aug 20, 1999, in Bellaire, he married Beverly M (Gregurash) Hughson, who survives. Also surviving are sons Nathaniel (Shannon Osborne) Goddard of Mancelona, and Leon Goddard of Kalkaska; stepsons Richard Aldrich of Rapid City, Michael (Narda) Hughson of Interlochen, Scott Hughson of Littleton, CO, Guy (Cindy) Hughson of Fairplay, CO and Dennis (Miranda) Hughson of Rockville, IN; stepdaughters Newlyn Easter of Snyder, TX and Vicki (David) Shumaker of South Haven; sister, Edith Zeck of Lansing; brothers Fred (Hilda) of Indian River, Richard (Loretta) of Wolverine, Corwyn (Liz) of Lansing, Clifford (Fran) of Taylor, Floyd (Rose) of Grayling, and Jerry (Mary Ann) of Gaylord; 15 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation was Jul 26 at St. Luke Catholic Church where a Wake Service was held that evening under the guidance of Sr. Celine Goessl. A funeral Mass was celebrated at the Church Jul 27 with Fr. Arockissamy Arulandu as celebrant. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire.
