Cornelius P Devine, 87, a lifelong resident of Kalkaska County, died Mon, Nov 20, 2000, at the home of his son in West Branch.
Mr. Devine was born in Kalkaska County Apr 5, 1913, to Robert and Rose Dockery Devine. He married Frances McHale Feb 11, 1950, in Glenview, IL. She preceded him in death Mar 14, 2000.
Prior to his retirement in 1976, Mr. Devine was employed by the Michigan Department of Transportation. He was a former member of the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Authority Board and had served on the Excelsior Township Board of Review. he was a member of st. Mary of the Woods Catholic church and a charter member and Past Grand Knight of St Joseph the Worker Council 7419, Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are son Robert (Catherine) Devine of West Branch; daughter Maureen (Jerry) Hayes of Grayling; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several cousins.
Brother Bernard, and sisters Katherine Devine and Mary Eileen Downey, preceded him in death.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov 25 at St Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, with Father Jim Holtz as celebrant. Interment was in St Mary of the Woods Cemetery.
