Cora Battenfield, 84, of Fife Lake, died Tue, Apr 2, 1996, at the home of her daughter in Caro, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Battenfield was born Apr 8, 1911, in Denver to louis and Laura (VonErincrook) Olson. She was married in Detroit to Lloyd Battenfield, Nov 23, 1932. He died Aug 10, 1987.
Mrs. Battenfield came to South Boardman as a child and grew up there. She graduated from high school in Kalkaska, and from County Normal School. She taught at rural Kalkaska County schools for many years, operated a farm with her husband, and wasa homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and qilt making.
Surviving are two daughters: Jesse (Andrew) Tallman of Caro and Lloy (Rollin) Jones of Ypsilanti; one sister Josephine McDunnell of Saginaw; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew and Wilbur Olson and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Fri, Apr 5, 1996, at Fife Lake Baptist Church. Rev. George Harmon and Rev. Bruce VanDussen officiated. Burial was in Clark Cemetery, Fife Lake. Tributes may be made to the Fife Lake Baptist Church.
Arrangements were made by Hall Funeral Chapel in Manton.
