Clyde A. Neff, 84, Had Ford Agency in 1914 at Montpelier MONTPELIER -
Clyde A. Neff, 84, Montpelier, died Tuesday at Blackford County Hospital in Hartford City.
Survivors include his wife, Treva.
Mr. Neff started the first Ford automobile agency in Montpelier in 1914. He instructed a mounted platoon at Culver Military Academy in Culver, and served in the Army many years, receiving a battlefield commission of captain which he held for 20 years.
Mr. Neff was a former member of the Montpelier City Council and past member of the Millard-Brown American Legion Post here. He was the first commander of the past commanders club. He belonged to the Montpelier United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Eugene Elizabeth Ann Outcalt, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Mrs. William Barbara Herr, Montpelier; two sons, Clyde and Kenneth Neff, both of Montpelier; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Walker Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Gerber officiating. Burial will be in Montpelier IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday. The Millard-Brown American Legion Post here will be in charge of graveside military services.
