Clayton H. Bartsch, 87, of Kalkaska, formerly of Farmington, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Munson Medical Center. He was born on December 4, 1921 to Hugo and Alma (Schwab) Bartsch in Detroit.
Clayton married the former Nora Marie Fulcher on April 4, 1942 in Farmington. Together they raised 2 wonderful children.
Clayton retired from Goddard & Goddard of Detroit after 34 years of service. Then went on to work for General Motors for a few years.
He was an avid outdoorsman. Clayton enjoyed golfing and was member of Twin Birch Golf Club for many years. He loved working in the yard and growing tomatoes.
Surviving Clayton is his devoted wife of 67 years, Nora; his loving daughter, Karen L. (John "Jack") Lenz of Berke, Virginia; his daughter-in-law, Pamela J. Bartsch of Howell; his brother, Richard (Ann) Bartsch of Harrison; his cherished grandchildren, Corey (Lou) Bartsch of Commerce Township, Kathleen (Mike) Mahalick of Saline, Brian (Samantha) Lenz of London, England, Cynthia (Scott) Underwood of Ann Arbor, Matthew (Dawn) Lacey of Milford, and Michael Lacey of White Lake; and 12 precious great-grandchildren.
Preceding Clayton were his parents; his son, Gary C. Bartsch who passed away on August 11, 2008; his brother Harvey Bartsch; and 2 baby sisters.
A memorial service for Clayton will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Hamburg, Michigan with Reverend John Franklin officiating. Burial of cremains will be in North Farmington Cemetery in Farmington Hills.
