Clarence S. Molesworth Crushed when stone bin falls – Dies Wednesday morning

Thompson’s gravel pit, west and north of Yale, was the scene of a shocking accident Tuesday afternoon, which resulted in fatal injuries to Clarence Molesworth, 20 years of age, son and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Molesworth, of Yale, and a broken leg to Alex Robertson, who lives east of Yale.

The Two men were working on the county road job drawing gravel. At one end of the big screen was a stone bin, which caught the rocks that were too big to use on the road job. The wagon was pulled under the bin to receive a load and in some manner, just as the two men were directly underneath it gave way, pinning them under the big load of stone. Mr. Robertson was soon released, as he was riding in the front end of the wagon, and the stones only caught one of his legs, but Clarence was in the rear and was buried under the weight of stone. As soon as possible he was taken out and removed to his home on First Street, and Drs. Andrews and Pollock were hastily summoned. From his injuries it seemed that he was hurt internally and it was deemed advisable to take him to the Port Huron hospital for an X-Ray examination. His parents accompanied him to that city, where everything possible was done for him, but the shock and injuries were too severe and he passed away at 6:00 o’clock Thursday morning.

The remains were brought back to Yale on the morning train and conveyed to his home. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon from the Omard Church Rev. Leland Marion, of the Mechanic street Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be made in the Omard Cemetery.

Clarence S. Molesworth was born near Omard, Sanilac county September 26, 1900. He came with his parents to Yale about a year ago, and has been working in the city since. He was of a quiet disposition, and had many friends among the young people, all of whom are pained to hear of his untimely death.
