Chester Malek, 80, a resident of Kalkaska since 1971, died Mon, May 8, 2000, at his home.
He was born in Hamtramck May 7, 1920, the son of Joseph and Frances Tworek Malek. He married Stella Sieracki in Napoleon, OH, on Jan 31, 1943.
Mr. Malek retired from National Broach and Machine Company in Detroit, and resided in Keego Harbor until moving to Kalkaska.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He enjoyed his grandchildren, traveling, Bible Study and helping needy people.
Surviving are his wife Stella; sons Robert (Martha) Malek of Rochester and Barry (Amy) Malek of Lake Orion; daughter Nancy (Michael) McClosky of Lake Orion; brothers Joseph Malek of Detroit, Mitchell Malek of Waterford, and Stanley Malek of Sterling Heights; sister Mary Stec of CA; six grandchildren; and a great granddaughter.
His son Richard and sister Joan Malek preceded him in death. Funeral services were May 10 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska; Pastor Larry Fetzer officiated. Inurnment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
