Charles W. Van Riper, 67, of 65 Leigh Street, died in Pontiac General Hospital at 4:45am today after an illness of two years.
Van Riper was born in Pontiac February 17, 1879, son of Edward and Catherine Van Riper and married May Conger. He has spent his entire life in Pontiac and was last employed at the Riker building. A veteran of WWI, he was a member of the Maccabees.
Besides his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Willa Verbeck of Detroit; two sons, Albert Brando of Smith Creek, Eugene Brando of Pontiac; and three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lew Clemens of Pontiac and one brother, Harry of Lansing.
Funeral will be Wednesday at 1 pm from the Huntoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Malone officiating and burial will be at Armada.
