Charles Wesley Mace, 72, of Mesick, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Sept 5, 2006 at Tendercare in Traverse City. Charles was born in Madlen, Mo. On Feb. 22, 1934, the son of George Edward and Beulah Mace.
A veteran of the Korean War, Charles was a child of God who lived in the Mesick and Traverse City area most of his life. A golden glove boxer in his heyday, Charles loved to travel, eventually making his home in northern Michigan. A true family man, he enjoyed spending time with loved ones and his dogs. He will be greatly missed by numerous family and friends.
Charles is survived by his children; sons, Greg Huston, Charles W. Mace Jr., Edward Mace and Jeffery Mace; daughter, Anna M. Mace; son-in-law, Danny Mace; sister Betty Jones; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; a step-father, Dave Tweddle; brothers Raymond Mace, Don Mace, Cletis Mace; Sisters, Nellie Kelly, Stella Uber and Mary Ellen Mace.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 10 am at the Memorial Gardens in Traverse City.
