Charles W. Spires, 60, died Sat, Sep 5, 1998, at his home near Mancelona.
Funeral services are Wed, Sep 9 at 2 pm at the Paullin-Penzien Funeral Home in Mancelona; Rev. Daniel McVey of the St. Matthews Lutheran Church-LCMS will officiate. Interment will be in Coldsprings Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
Charles was born Jun 4, 1938, in Milford, the son of Cassie and Celia (Travers) Spires. He worked as a carburetor repairman for the Ford Motor Company at the Rawsonville Plant for 30 years. He owned property in Mancelona since 1961, and moved to Mancelona in 1986 after retiring.
He was a member of the Ypsilanti Moose Lodge, the Moose Legion, and UAW Local 898. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Charles is survived by Judith Spires of Mancelona, ,children Rickey C. (Marguerite) Spires, and Stacy (Adam) Larson of Mancelona, Nan Spires of Dallas, GA, and mEvan Smith of Mancelona; sisters Arlene (Jay) Salisbury of Wyondotte, Violet (Wayne) Wright of Grand Rapids, Shirley (Nicholas "Bill" II) Schnieder of Ypsilanti, and Peggy (Herschel) Numemaker of Bretheren; brother Theodore (Verna) Spires of Kalkaska; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorlene Spires, and brother Harry Spires.
