Charles S Stampfler, 69, died at 6 o’clock Monday morning at his residence, 156 East Columbia Ave, after an illness of two years. He was a retired farmer and had resided in Battle Creek for the last 13 years. Born in Battle Creek on Nov 28, 1869, he lived here the first four years of his life, moving then with his parents to Potterville and later to Fife Lake, where he resided until 1925, when he returned to this city to live. On last Nov 15 he had been married 45 years. His widow, Josephine survives. Also surviving are four children, Mrs. Maurice Voice of Fife Lake, Miss Anita Stampfler of Battle Creek and Glenn L and Floyd V Stampfler, both of Battle Creek; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mary Barber of Greenville; and two brothers, Edward Stampfler of Fife Lake and Fred Stampfler of Otsego Mr. Stampfler was a member of St Philip Church, the Holy Name society and the Maccabees. The body will be at the residence where friends may call today and Wednesday. Funeral services will be at 9am Thursday at St. Philip church, the Rev. Maurice Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
