Charles (Charlie) R. Day, 75, of Alden, died Mon, Dec 29, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
He was born Sep 17, 1933, in Kalamazoo, the son of Elton and Gladys (Pallette) Day.
More than anything else, Charlie loved spending time with his family. His love, humor, and devotion to them were apparent. He also enjoyed golf and was an avid fan of Notre Dame football.
On Jun 22, 1957, in Kalamazoo, Charlie married Judy Ann Hays. They both grew up in Kalamazoo and they raised their family in Alden.
Surviving Charlie is his wife of 51 years, Judy, his four chidlren; Lori (Todd) Aubertin, of Contoocook, NH, Gordon (Karen) Day of Rapid City, Scott (Kristin) Day of Hatteras Island, NC, and Darci (George) Lewis of Kalkaska; three brothers, Donald (Marilyn) Day, Kenneth (Norma) Day, and Bud (Sally) Day; five sisters, Pat (Lou) Lipes, Mary (Bill) Nigg, Carol Stickler, Elizabeth (Gregg) Fox, and Margaret Krum; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Paul and Larry Day, and a sister, Marilynne Boyle.
A memorial gathering was held Fri, Jan 2, from 4 to 6 pm at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
