Charles L Watkins, 48, of Kalkaska, died Mon, Jan 4, 1999, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Charles was born Apr 3, 1950, in Mancelona, the son of Leslie and Vada (Howell) Watkins. He lived all of his life in the Mancelona/Kalkaska area. Charles loved woodworking and worked at Mancelona Manufacturing. He also enjoyed hunting and mushrooming.
He is survived by daughter Katina Root of Kalkaska; son Shane Watkins of Kalkaska; granddaughter Pauline Root of Kalkaska; mother Vada Watkins of Mancelona; sisters Jenny (Donald) Miller of Mancelona, Suz (Randy) Windish of Kalkaska, and Arlyn Harris of Mancelona; brothers Dan Watkins of Arcadia, FL, Donnie (Peg) Watkins of Brighton, Vercil "Butch" (Nancy) Watkins of Redford, and Lenard (Marg) Watkins of Kalkaska; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends Hazel Alberts and Bonnie Watkins, both of Kalkaska. He was preceded in death by father Leslie Watkins in 1962; and brothers Venard Watkins in 1970 and Dale Watkins in 1996.
Funeral services were Jan 6, at the Paullin-Penzien Funeral Home in Mancelona; Louie Scholls officiated. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.
Memorials may be given to the Watkins family.
