Funeral services were held today for Charles Lanning, 82, of 212 Second St. who died Sat in Mercy Hospital in Cadillac following a four week illness. Burial was in Bloomfield Township Cemetery.
He was born November 12, 1887 in Trenton, IN.
He married Ivah Kimbel Jul 13, 1911 in Manton, a year after coming to the area from Indiana.
Lanning worked as pumper at a logging railroad of the Mitchell Bros. near Spencer. He also farmed in Missaukee County, retiring about eight years ago. He had also served as director for School District No. 4 in Missaukee County.
He was associated with the United Bretheran Church of Petroleum, IN.
Survivors include two sons, Earl of Lake City and Lloyd of Manton; a daughter, Mrs. Orris (Maxine) Williams of Fife Lake; a sister, Mrs. Lulu Proctor of Manton; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
