Charles E. Setter, age 94, of Brown City, died Apr 20, 2018. He was born in Flynn Township, Sanilac County to Alonzo and Anna Setter. He attended country school at Poplar Point and Hill School. Charles married Nellie Stacy on Oct 3, 1942.
A life long farmer, Charles was known for stable of draft horses, ponies, and mules he raised. He was a hard worker off the farm as well, including many years with his own plumbing and heating business. He was a long time member of the Thumb Draft Horse Association and the Michigan Milk Producers Association.
He is survived by 2 children, Margaret (Carl) Foster, and Alonzo (Kim) Setter. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren: Leora (Ken) Cooper, Alan (Sue) Foster, Carlene (Larry) Turrell, Holly (Kyle) McCarty, Adam (Kati) Setter, Sarah (Josh) McCurley and a grandson in law, Jeff Parr, along with 15 great grandchildren, 2 great great granddaughters, and special friends, Yvonne Bennett and Patti Glosque.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie, a son James Setter, a granddaughter Linette Parr, a sister Laura Petula and a brother Lawrence Setter.
A visitation and viewing will be from 1-8pm on Tue, Apr 24, 2018 at Faith Baptist Church in Brown City and on Wed from 10 to noon.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Wed, Apr 25, 2018 with grandsons serving as Pall Bearers. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to United Hospice House of Marlette.
