Cecil B. Elkins, 81, of South Boardman, died Sat, Jun 3, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Elkins was a retired logger, and moved to Kalkaska County in 1962. He had previously resided in Roscommon, Manton, Freesoil, and Manistee. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and the outdoors.
He was born in Chase on Jul 26, 1918, the son of Ernest and Pearl Ballard Elkins. He married Margaret Humphrey, who preceded him in death. On Nov 17, 1949, in Kingsley, he married Phyllis Smith who survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by son Marshall (Kathy) Elkins of Mancelona; daughters, Nelda (Andrew) Schaub of Kingsley, Cinda Snell of South Boardman, Carol (Marvin) Schwab of Canton, OH, and Tina (Gary) Tracey of South Boardman; brother Arthur Elkins of Mancelona; 25 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren.
A brother Robert, and sisters Barbara and Beverly also preceded him in death.
Memorial services were Jun 6 at the Evergreen Bible Baptist Church; Rev William Kuiper officiated.
