Mrs. Caroline Olson, 85, a longtime Suttons Bay resident who made her home for the last nine years with a daughter, Mrs. Owen (Laura) White, at 540 W. Ninth, Traverse City, died early this morning (Apr 13, 1968) at Munson Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mrs. Olson was born August 19, 1982 near Oslo, Norway, at the age of seven years moved to Leelanau County with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Moe, and for many years resided on a farm north of Suttons Bay, where she was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
In May of 1903, she was married to Edward Olson, who died in May of 1965.
Surviving are; two sons, Louis and Albert of Traverse City; Mrs. White and four other daughters, Mrs. Louis (Helen) Hein of Traverse City, Mrs. William (Ella) Johnson of Plymouth, Mrs. Pete (Josephine) Herman of Suttons Bay, and Mrs. Walter (Evelyn) Meek of Trinidad, Colo; 26 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Sena Berklund of Suttons Bay; and a brother, Harold Moe of Traverse City.
Two sons died in infancy and another son, Edward Jr, died while serving with the U.S. Armed Forces in Okinawa in WWII.
Funeral services for Mrs. Oloson will be held at 2pm Tuesday at Ray Martinson funeral home. Suttons Bay, Rev. Dale Mitchell officiating with burial in Suttons Bay Lutheran cemetery.
