SHEPPARD Sr.,Calvin F., age 95 of Kalkaska, MI., formerly of South Lyon, MI., passed away at his home on August 14, 2011. Calvin was born on March 6, 1916 to the late William Sheppard and Eva (Gillespie) Sheppard. He married the former Gladys Van Sickle on August 7, 1937, who preceded him in death on May 9, 2011. He was the father of Calvin Jr. (Janice) Sheppard, Richard (Carolyn) Sheppard, Douglas Sheppard, Judith Prince, Paul Sheppard, Laura Lewis; grandfather of 21 and great-grandfather of 32. Besides Gladys, he was preceded in death by one sister, two brothers and two grandchildren.
Calvin was active in the community as a baseball umpire for high school and summer leagues for forty years. He was a long time volunteer fireman in South Lyon and active in the Pumpkin Fest. He served his church as a greeter and met each one with a smile and friendly handshake.
