Boyd C. Kniss, 88, of Kalkaska, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sigma in Kalkaska County on April 16, 1920 to the late George and Eva (Benedict) Kniss.
Boyd married the former Ruth Six on May 22, 1939.
Boyd is survived by his devoted children, Lyle Kniss of Kalkaska, Milton (Christine) Kniss of New Albany, Ohio, Richard (Christine) Kniss of Niles, and Ila (Christopher) Rosselit of Niles; 6 precious grandchildren, 4 cherished great-grandchildren; and his loving brothers, Percy Darryl (Buelah) Kniss of Old Mission and Dale (Ruth) Kniss of Kalkaska.
Preceding Boyd were his parents; his wife, Ruth (Six) Kniss; his brothers, Gordon Kniss and Wayne Kniss; and his sister Donna Jackson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Kimberland Hough of the Garfield Country Church officiating. Internment will be at Oliver Township Cemetery in the spring.
