Billye N Smurr, 72, a resident of Kalkaska County since 1985, died Oct 28, 1998, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mrs. Smurr resided in Jackson prior to moving to Kalkaska. She was a member of South Jackson Community Church and Kings Daughters. She was formerly national president of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Auxiliary, and had worked with Ciesta Village Security Fund. She enjoyed collecting angels, crafts, and golf.
Mrs. Smurr was born in Angola, IN on May 2, 1926, to Milo and Reatha Griffin Certain. She married Floyd W Smurr in Angola on Jun 8, 1946.
Surviving are her husband Floyd; daughters Mrs. Leonard (Lynn) Boobyer of Jackson and Patricia White of Mounds View, MN; mother Reatha James of Angola; sister Alvina Zimonick of AZ; seven grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
No services are planned. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Jackson. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
