Beverly Dewey, 53, was set free at 1:35 am on Oct 21, 1999, at her home in Alden following many years of illness.
She was born Jan 4, 1946, in Traverse City, the daughter of Henry and Elizbeth "Betty" (Huddlestone) Ricksgers. She graduated from Mancelona High School in 1964. On Aug 14, 1965, in Mancelona, she married high school sweetheart Roger Dewey.
She is survived by husband Roger Dewey of Alden; daughter Christina Dewey of Alden; son Patrick (Corinna) Dewey of Alden; parents Henry and Elizabeth "Betty" Ricksgers of Alden; brother Robert (Brenda) Ricksgers of Alden; and four nephews.
Beverly's most cherished occupation was motherhood. She nurtured and loved her two children and many others as well. She shared her love for the rebirth of springtime with her family by gathering wild mushrooms, planting seeds and raising newborn animals. In the fall she delighted in the harvest and in sharing it with her family and friends.
Beverly has sewn the seeds of love, kindness, and commitment in the hearts of her family and friends. Although she is gone, those close to her will always reap the harvest of her life's work.
Funeral services were Oct 23 at the Paullin-Penzien Funeral Home in Mancelona; Rev Paulette Cheyne officiated. A special service followed at the Dewey Farm in Alden.
The family was served by the Paullin-Penzien Funeral Home in Mancelona. Memorials may be given to a children's fund of the donor's choice.
