Betty Marie (Canfield) Anderson, 90, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2014. Betty was born on September 14, 1924 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Donald and Mary (Middlemiss) Canfield. Betty was a respected member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where she served faithfully. Betty retired as a secretary from the UAW. She was an avid golfer, who also enjoyed playing bridge at the Senior Center. One of her great passions in life was for shopping and she is remembered as always looking classy. In Betty’s early years she spent many enjoyable winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Anderson; son, Dennis Anderson; grandson, Patrick Anderson; and brothers, Bob and Jim Canfield. Betty is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Tom) Richards; daughter in law, Linda Anderson; grandchildren: Jodi (Marv) Radtke, Jill (Scott) Slagal, Michael Anderson, Eric Anderson, and Becky Anderson; and four great grandchildren. Betty’s final years were spent living a full life at the Grand Traverse Pavilions. Her family would like to thank the staff of the Cherry Unit for the love and wonderful care that they gave her during her time there, especially during the last days of her life. Per Betty’s wishes no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the food pantry at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 630 SW Silver Lake Rd, Traverse City, MI 49685.
