Betty Lou Hillard, 85, of Adrian, passed away Mar 22, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was born in Fairfield, MI on Mar 22, 1927, the daughter of Ivie Jerome and Goldie Belle (Hart) Sager.
Betty graduated from Sand Creek High School in 1944. In 1946, she married Raymond Hillard and he survives.
Betty was a member of the Women of the Moose and also the Women’s Bowling Association. She enjoyed bowling in many state and national tournaments. She also loved her Thur traveling golf league with several friends and the Sunday Mixed Golf League. She was an avid mall walker, enjoying her friends, especially Mary.
Betty began her working career with Faraday Electric and then with the former Stubnitz Greene, transferring to Ann Arbor to continue working with the company, then retiring in 1989 as an Executive Secretary from Johnson Controls.
In addition to Ray, her husband of over 65 years, she is survived by a daughter, Kimberly (Joel) Steudle of Adrian; and three grandchildren, Cazzie (Stuart) Mansfield of Adrian; Allie of Ann Arbor, and Brett of Rochester; and two very much loved great grandsons, Barron and Rowen Mansfield. Betty loved watching her grandchildren participate in sports at Adrian High School and Siena Heights University, and traveled to many away games. She was best known as the “cookie lady”.
A celebration of life will be held on Mon, Mar 26, 2012, at 10:30am at Wagley Funeral Home with Rev. Lloyd Jewitt officiating. Burial will be private at Fairfield Cemetery. Betty’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sun from 3 to 5pm.
