Betty L Thompson, 75, of Flint Township, died Tue, Mar 13, 2002, at McLaren Regional Medical Center.
Betty was born Oct 14, 1926, in Kalkaska, the daughter of Alfred and Laura (Groner) Kohn. She had lived in the Kalkaska and Flint areas her entire life. She married Guy Thompson Feb 12, 1944. He preceded her in death in 1977.
Surviving are daughter Loretta (Michael "Tony") Cienki; grandchildren Kimberly (Shawn) Lawrence and Kevin Cienki; beloved great grandchildren Taylor and Nolan Lawrence; sisters Ardis Childs of Kalkaska, Vonna Shapiro of Isle of Palms, SC; "adopted daugthers" Marie (Tom) Shelby, Alice (David) Vasicek, Toni LaBelle, Elina Beach, Maureen Gellings, and Mary McCulla; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by son Cpl Michael Guy Thompson in 1968.
Her funeral Mass was celebrated Mar 16 at St John Vianney Catholic Church in Flint, with the Rev Douglas Osborn as Celebrant. A vigil service was Mar 15 at the Sharp Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St John Vianney Catholic Church, March of Dimes, or Swartz Creek Fine Arts Association.
