Betty D. Lifford, 79, of Grayling and formerly of Bear Lake Township, passed away on Nov. 4. 2002, at her home. She was born on March 31, 1923, in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of Lafayette and Daisy (Foor) Beers.
Betty married William E. Lifford on July 17. 1943, in Lansing. Betty was a member of the Michigan Bow Hunter Assoc. and Michigan Road Builders Assoc. In 1952 Betty was the Woman's National Field Archery Champion She was also a competitive roller skater.
Betty is survived by her children, Michael (Virginia) Lifford of Dimondale, James (Marijo) Lifford of Mason and Patricia (Russell) Papendick of Grayling: eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Betty Beers of Jackson.
A memorial service honoring her life was held Nov. 11 at the Bear Lake Christian Church The Rev. David Rosenberg officiated.
