Bertha Ruth Hansen of Kalkaska passed away at home on Jul 22, 2001. She was 96.
Mrs. Hansen was born in Defiance County, Sherwood, Ohio on Aug 8, 1904, the daughter of Winfield Scott and Achsah Leeanna Ames. She had been a resident of Kalkaska since 1906. She married Arthur Edward Hansen on Jul 2, 1923 at her parents' home. He preceded her in death Jan 30, 1998.
She was a member of the Kalkaska United Methodist Church, Rebeckah Lodge and a past Grand Matriarch of the Grand Ladies Auxiliary 1.0.0.2., of Michigan.
Surviving are a daughter, Dorothy L Darke of Muskegon; a son Winfield (Iris) Hansen of Kalkaska; daughters in law, Susannah Hansen and Phyllis Hansen, both of Kalkaska; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 12 great greaat grandchildren.
Two sons, Alfred C and John C preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Wed, Jul 25, at 11 am at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska, Reverend David McCool officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Kalkaska.
Her great grandsons were pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Munson Hospice.
