Bertha Caroline Heaton passed away Jan 18, 2004, at her home in Englewood, FL, where she has lived for the past 30 years.
She was born in Kalkaska County on Aug 31, 1919, the daughter of Charles A. and Clara (Detzler) Wagonschutz who preceded her in death along with a brother, Royal Wagonschutz; and sisters, Dora Mollitor of Lansing and Georgetta Pflum of Kalkaska.
Also preceding her in death was her husband of 40 years, George A (Bud) Brown of Kalkaska and Englewood; son ,Richard Brown of Kalkaska; and daughter, Sally Ann (Prough) Hawley of Williamston.
Surviving is her brother, Russell (Betty) Wagonschutz of DeWitt; son Kenneth S (Cheryl) Brown of Parachute, CO; daughters, Katherine E Brown of Englewood, FL, Frances J (Donald) Schmidt of Williamston, and Kimberly E (Hubble) Brown of Bay City; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Also surviving is her husband of 25 years, William S Heaton of Englewood; and stepsons, Clifton Heaton and family of Peekskill, NY, and Brooks Heaton and family of Temple Terrace, FL.
A memorial service was held Jan 22, 2004.
