Bernard “Bernie” Meehan, 77, died Jun 3, 2009, peacefully in his sleep at home. He was born May 1, 1932, in Wenatchee, WA to B.J. “Joe” and Anita (Hodge) Meehan. Bernie graduated from Wenatchee High School, where he met his wife while attending community college at that high school. He married Barbara J. Smith on Jul 19, 1953. Bernie was in the Armed Services and was proud to be a Veteran. After serving his country, Bernie was trained as a Bookkeeper in Wenatchee and worked for a CPA firm there. In 1958, he and his family moved to Entiat, WA, where he worked for the Lake Entiat Growers, Inc. While living in Entiat, he was on the Board of Directors of Northwest Wholesale, Trustee for Wenoka Supply Co and Past President of the Chamber of Commerce. Bernie moved his family to Edmonds, WA in 1968. He worked for various companies as an Accountant and Bookkeeper. He later started his own bookkeeping business. Bernie was devoted to his family. He loved the outdoors. He especially loved to camp, fish, and hunt. He was also active with his Wenatchee High School reunion gatherings and often traveled back and forth between Edmonds and Wenatchee. Survivors include one daughter, Laura Meehan; two sons, B.J. “Jody” (and his wife, Cathy) and Tom (and his wife, June) Meehan; and three grandchildren, Brian, Shea, and Molly. He was preceded in death by his wife. His longtime companion, MaryJo Kozar, resides in Wenatchee. A Tribute Service will be held at 12 noon Sat, Jun 13, 2009, at Jones & Jones-Betts Memorial Chapel, 302 Ninth Street, Wenatchee, WA. Father Tom Kuykendall is officiating the service. In lieu of flowers and gifts, a contribution to The National MS Society would be appreciated.
